TEXAS MCLE REQUIREMENTS
Every active member of the State Bar must complete a minimum of 15 hours of accredited continuing legal education (CLE) during each MCLE compliance year.
- CLE Club has courses that are approved by Texas. The Texas approved courses can be used to satisfy the 15 hours of accredited continuing legal education (CLE) during each MCLE compliance year.
- At least three hours of the minimum 15-hour requirement must be in the area of legal ethics/professional responsibility; You may take one or more Texas approved CLE Club ethics courses to complete this requirement.
Texas attorneys can use CLE Club courses to satisfy your 15 hours of CLE, including 3 hours of ethics by taking Texas Approved CLE Courses.
MCLE Compliance Year
Each member's initial MCLE compliance year shall begin on the first day of the member’s birth month that occurs after the licensing date and shall end twenty-four (24) months later on the last day of the month immediately preceding the member’s birth month.
Participatory Credit
Participatory credit obtained from accredited CLE activities in which attorneys are able to participate together through electronic or other processes. Credit may be claimed for participating in any of the following activities that encourage interaction, discussion and contribution:
- Live interactive webcast and teleconferences;
- Pre-recorded, on-demand web based programming and teleconferences including interactive audio, video and digital media and which include and promote discussion forums or other viable options for interaction and discussion, subject to approval of the MCLE Committee; and
- Other such interactive CLE activities as may be developed through advanced technology, subject to approval of the MCLE Committee.
Participatory Credit Calculation
The Attorney Circles website reflects the number of credits granted for the course per the State Bar of Texas CLE credit hours. Credits are computed based on actual time spent in an activity (actual instruction time, reading time, running time of tapes, audio, video or digital media) reported in hours to the nearest one-quarter hour and reported in decimals.
